More about this category
A motorcycle hoodie is a motorcycle jacket in the shape of a hoodie. On the outside you see a hood, a drawstring and ordinary pockets. On the inside there is armour on the shoulders and elbows, and the outer fabric is made to slide over tarmac. That is why the hoodies are also listed under our motorcycle jackets.
Motorcycle clothing is tested to EN 17092. Class A is the basic level for city riding, while class AA is tested more rigorously for abrasion resistance and seams. The Alpinestars Stella Chrome Sport V2 Hoodie is certified in class A, the Alpinestars Chrome Superairflow Hoodie in class AA.
Check what is included as standard. The Alpinestars Radium Tech Hoodie comes with Nucleon Flex Plus Level 1 armour on the shoulders and elbows. Many hoodies also have a pocket for a back protector, which you buy separately. You can see which one fits under back protectors.
A hoodie made of tech fleece or softshell is great in spring and autumn. For warm days there are hoodies made of 3D mesh that let the wind flow through. These are also listed under mesh jackets.
A motorcycle hoodie needs to fit snugly, otherwise the armour will shift in a fall. Try it on in your riding position with your arms forward: the sleeves should still cover your wrists. For women there are models with their own fit, such as the Alpinestars Stella Chrome Superairflow Hoodie.
A certified hoodie protects as well as a textile jacket with the same CE class. If you ride long stretches on the motorway, a jacket in class AA or AAA is the safer choice.
The hoodies are not waterproof. If you often ride in the rain, choose a jacket with a waterproof membrane, such as the Alpinestars Aeroshell WP Jacket.
