Choose a helmet made from a strong material, with a good fit, a sturdy chin strap and a look you like. Make sure you maintain your scooter helmet regularly so that it keeps working properly. If you follow these tips, you can be sure you are choosing the right helmet.Riding a scooter or motorcycle is a popular form of transport, so it's important to protect yourself properly when you ride. One of the most important ways to protect yourself is by wearing a good scooter helmet. A good scooter helmet not only offers protection in the event of an accident, but also comfort and safety. In the section below, we go into more detail about why wearing a helmet matters and what you need to know when choosing the right scooter helmet.
Buying a scooter helmet: what should you look out for?
Buying a scooter helmet online can be tricky, as you can't try the helmet on. To make it easy for you, we at Vespucci will tell you exactly what to look out for when buying a helmet. First of all, it's important to understand what goes into a good scooter helmet. A good helmet is made from a strong material such as polycarbonate or fibreglass, which makes the helmet strong and durable. It's also important to bear the points below in mind when searching for your new scooter helmet:
Choose a scooter helmet that is approved to the European standard EN 1078: All helmets in the Vespucci range meet this standard, so you don't need to look any further.
Choose a scooter helmet with an optimal fit: The fit of the helmet depends on the circumference of your head. To choose the right fit, measure the circumference of your head above your eyebrows. In the size chart you can then see exactly which fit is perfect for you.
Choose a scooter helmet that is lightweight and offers good ventilation: Extremely lightweight helmets are made from carbon. Because these helmets are so light, the helmet won't feel heavy on your head, which makes for an extra comfortable ride.
Choose a scooter helmet with a good quality, strong fastening:ROOF, Shark andScorpion scooter helmets are known for their strong fastenings.
Choose a scooter helmet that is waterproof, for good protection in wet weather: Full-face helmets are best suited to bad weather such as rain. A full-face helmet consists of a shell and a chin section. The helmet covers your whole face, unlike an open-face helmet, for example, which has no chin section. The helmets fromROOF andScorpion have dual homologation: these helmets have an adjustable chin section and can therefore be worn both as a full-face helmet and as an open-face helmet.
Looking after your scooter helmet
Once you've bought it, it's important to look after your scooter helmet properly. Check the helmet regularly for damage and replace worn parts such as straps and padding. Store the helmet in a cool, dry place to prevent damage.
Finding the perfect scooter helmet: safety, style and comfort in one
Several factors play a part when choosing the right scooter helmet. From size and colour to brand and price, every decision matters to make sure you set off not only in style, but above all safely. On our website you'll find an extensive range of helmets that meet the highest quality standards, so you can hit the road with confidence.
What helmet size do you need? We'll help you!
Not sure about the right helmet size? Don't worry, we're here to help. On every product page you'll find a handy size chart to help you work out the right size. But how exactly do you measure your head circumference? Measuring your head is easier than you think. Use a flexible tape measure and place it around the widest part of your head, about 1-2 centimetres above your eyebrows, to the most prominent part of the back of your head. Repeat this measurement a few times and take the average. Between two sizes? Then go for the smaller size, because the inside of the helmet can shrink slightly over time. That way you can be sure of a perfect fit and optimal protection.
Matt black: the most popular colour
When it comes to helmet colour, matt black remains the absolute favourite. The sleek, timeless look of a matt black helmet suits almost any scooter and outfit. Whether you choose a classic open-face helmet or a rugged streetfighter helmet such as the Scorpion Combat, a matt black finish is always a stylish choice. These helmets are also available in various price ranges, so there's a suitable option for every budget.
Which type of helmet suits you?
As well as colour, it's important to look at the type of helmet that suits you best. Think about the choice between a full-face helmet, an open-face helmet or a modular helmet. A full-face helmet, for example, offers optimal protection and is ideal for higher speeds, while an open-face helmet offers more comfort and ventilation, which is perfect for city use. For those who want versatility, a modular helmet is an excellent option because it combines the best of both worlds.
The difference a good visor makes
A good visor is crucial to your riding experience. Helmets with an integrated Pinlock insert, for example, stop your visor from fogging up, which gives you a clear view in all weather conditions. This is especially important during the colder months or on rainy days. With us you can choose from a variety of helmets with high-quality visors that not only give you a clear view, but also offer UV protection to shield your eyes from harmful sunrays.
